Daianand “Anand” Ramcharran was born in Eccles on the East Bank of Demerara. He moved to live with his grandmother at an early age in Alexander Village. He is the fifth of six children with four sisters and one brother.

He attended West Ruimveldt Primary School and then Muslims College after passing his common entrance exams. He decided to leave school in 3rd form to work as a goldsmith trade with his cousin.

In 1982, Anand and his family migrated to New York City thanks to the sponsorship of his uncle. He attended New York City Technical College and then Baruch College where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. He worked for a Japanese trading company as a Junior Accountant soon after graduating.

​

He married his beautiful wife Indira 1988 and migrated to South Florida six months after. This marriage saw the birth of three children, Aneal, Alyssa and Anthony. He has coached all three of his children in recreation sports during the early years.

 

Anand currently works as a Controller as a Web Hosting company in Coral Springs for the last four years.

His hobbies are cricket, football (the real football game) and basketball. He has been playing cricket in South Florida for the last 25 years both in the hardball and softball formats.
