Leslie Lachmansingh

Leslie Lachmansingh was born in Georgetown, Guyana.  In the early 50’s his father, a pharmacist opened a pharmacy store and it became part of a chain that was prominent in Georgetown in the 60’s, 70’s, and eighties. As a teenager Leslie assisted his dad with the filling of prescriptions and the general running of the pharmacy. Leslie departed the shores of Guyana to study Accounting and Finance in Canada. Upon completion of his studies and after several different jobs he was employed as a clerk by Shopsy’s Foods (division of Thomas J Lipton) in Toronto, Canada. Leslie worked for that company for ten years and during that time he moved up the cooperate ladder to the position of accounting Manager.

In 1977, Leslie and some colleagues formed the Superstars Stars Sports club and that sports club is still in existence participating in the Toronto and District Cricket League. As one of the founders Leslie became the President and moved the club to higher heights expanding the club with a junior team.  A few years later he embarked on creating a new cricket league to promote the harmony and friendship the game of cricket should be played. The Commonwealth Cricket Association is still active in Toronto, Canada and the ideas that Leslie envisioned still exists.

Leslie left the shores of Toronto, Canada for Florida, USA and opened a chain of furniture retail stores across South Florida. As the administrator, he was influential in the formation of Miramar Masters Cricket Club of which he is the President. The club participated in the South Florida Cricket Association. Upon the recommendation of fellow members of the club he also formed a softball cricket team with the assistance of Mr. Ram Ali. Leslie enjoys the friendship of meeting fellow cricketers and promoting cricket.

Leslie now is in the mortgage business working for a national mortgage servicer assisting customers with modification of their loans.

​

None of this would be possible without the assistance of his wife Naseema and the support of his two kids Ashley and Ryan.

​

Leslie and Naseema are blessed with four grandchildren and looking forward to retiring in a few years.
