Lloyd Persaud

Mr. Lloyd Persaud was born in Kitty (Shell Road), Guyana where he grew up to the age of 7 then moved to Grove and at the age of 10 migrated with his 2 brothers and sister to Perth Amboy, New Jersey. He left college for his dream job as an international sales rep., starting with the fabric and paper industry – negotiating/travelling sales between the US and Africa (Nigeria, Liberia) & the Caribbean. He decided to start his own hardware distribution business and migrated to Jamaica, where he also had a door manufacturing operation. In between businesses in Jamaica, he was the Operations Manager of Jamaica Steel and Plastics. He met and married Roopa Persaud in 1992 – also a Guyanese native, and had 2 daughters – Padmini and Tilka.

The family migrated to South Florida in 2000, where he became interested in Real Estate, and was encouraged to become Residential Real Estate Appraiser. His wife soon followed him into the business, and they have owned an Appraisal company (Peninsula Appraisal Services) since 2005, currently valuing residential real estate in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.

Lloyd has maintained his cultural roots and became active in Jamaica. He is a founder member (along with others from Jamaica, Trinidad, and India) of the National Council for Indian Cultural in Jamaica. In South Florida, he was a former President of Florida Hindu Parishad (Shri Saraswati Devi Mandir). Wanting to do more for his community, he has volunteered with local nonprofit organizations including Girl Scouts USA with his daughters, and Call To Serve, which does medical missions in the Caribbean. He joined the South Florida Soft Ball Cricket League in 2015 and is currently a founding member of the Sunshine State Soft Ball Cricket Association.
